Immune system boosting tea for colds and flu

Ginger is known for its many health benefits among them as an anti inflammatory, an anti nausea cure and an anti bacterial just to name a few.  That is why we always have this root medicinal on hand.  Gingerol, the medicinal substance found in raw ginger is a potent anti bacterial and anti inflammatory agent therefore can reduce colds and flu duration.

Anytime we feel a sore throat coming on we brew up a hot pot of the golden elixir of fresh lemon wedges and freshly grated ginger and simmer it on the stove top for 5 – 10 minutes.

In a medium pot on medium high heat:

Boil 8 cups of filtered water

1 large 2 inch piece of freshly grated ginger (use a microplane or chopped fine)

Add the juice of 2 lemons

Add 1/2 chopped fresh lemon wedges

*Add organic honey*

Simmer for 5 – 10 minutes.  Using a fine mesh sieve pour into a large mug.  You can strain the remainder of the tea into a jug and refrigerate for later use.

** Using a microplane will virtually juice the ginger in the tea.  It will be hot, spicy and pungent.  Add organic honey to taste.
